Pulse dispersion, Dispersion compensation, Basics of Optical Communication Systems, and recent trends. Fiber fabrication technology and fiber characterization. Periodic interaction in waveguides: Coupled Mode Theory, Fiber Bragg Gratings, Long period Gratings and applications, Optical fiber sensors: basic principles and applications.
